![]() Rather than spending that amount of money on something you'd never be able to recoup any part of, you'd be better off selling your MDX and buying the color combo vehicle you really wanted all along. I wouldn't call you a clown but I do think it'd be a poor decision to spend 15k to swap out the interior color of a vehicle that must not have bothered you too much since you bought it in the first place. I ended up with a 3rd gen as a result (blue with gray interior). I actually put off buying a 2nd gen MDX because the only exterior color I wanted, blue, came with a tan interior that I didn't like. I don't happen to find beige interiors appealing but I know some people like it. Pick any color and there are cheap cars that are available in that color - nothing at all related to 'luxury'. A color is just a hue that appeals to the eye of a particular person. (I mean no offense to the majority of owners here who have the black/white/grayscale color - it's just a personal preference). I won't compromise on colors - if the vehicle I was eying wasn't available in a color I find appealing to 'me' I won't buy it and this includes both exterior and interior colors. I don't happen to like any of those colors and would never buy one (although I had a black 1978 280Z - impossible to keep clean). The most sold colors are black, white, and a shade of gray - which are available on even the cheapest of vehicles. The same goes for exterior colors - there is no exterior color that's more 'luxurious' than another - they're all simply a hue. There's no way repairing the driver's seat alone would come anywhere close to that sum and the rest would be spent purely to change a color. Rather than spending that amount of money on something you'd never be able to recoup any part of, you'd be better off selling your MDX and buying (used - same year so as not to spend additional on new and take the depreciation hit) the color combo vehicle you really wanted all along. A wipe down of the seats with a damp towel after a car wash is all you need to keep them looking clean for long periods of time between conditioning.Ĭlick to expand.I wouldn't call you a clown but I do think it'd be a poor decision to spend 15k to swap out the interior color of a vehicle that must not have bothered you too much since you bought it in the first place. Many people stay away from light interiors because "it gets dirty too quickly" but the reality is that dark interiors also get dirty, but it's not as easy to see. Most BMW products are good examples of this. Light seats with a dark headliner & carpet really make the seats stand out likewise with having contrasting seat bolsters and stitching/piping. Light colors such as amber, beige/cream, grey, and white look very luxurious and inviting, but a huge factor is how the leather surfaces contrasts with the other materials inside the vehicle. There's a reason why all base models and rental cars have black interiors, and it isn't because it's luxurious. In my opinion black interiors are visually unappealing and austere. It's too yellow to my eye, so I waited until I found an MDX with the Greystone interior, though I would have chosen Parchment over black. Pricing subject to change without notice.I don't love the Parchment interior either. It is the customer's sole responsibility to verify the accuracy of the prices with the dealer.
